What Are the Possibilities When You Decide to Work From Home?

Thanks to the Internet, the possibilities are endless. I was forced to set up a homeschool, a home-based business and work from home a lot more.

Here's a brief explanation of the path that I took:

I became a sole parent at the beginning of 2007 and had to radically change my business model.

Previously I had an office in town and before he became very ill, my husband looked after our three children while I worked.

I provided educational programs for our children in my free time and had set up a small homeschool.

Our world turned upside-down and we faced many tough decisions.

We needed:

the income from the business,

the stability of a parent at home,

a homeschool model for our one, three and five-year-old children that would still work despite one parent being out of action.

In short, I needed to stay at home and work. But how?

We're all familiar with the endless emails promising us thousands of dollars per week for a few hours work at our computers.

This just doesn't happen in reality.

And anyway, I love my job and have put thousands of hours into my career, I was hardly going to throw it all away and try selling some product I don't know or care about. How could I continue in that vein?

You don't have to be a genius to work out that a website is going to ease the burden a bit.

But the next question is, "How?"

I had toyed around with a few website ideas before. I'd had some associates build some pages for me.

But what I wanted was control of the whole process, as I've always had a very distinct vision for my business.

So I researched and found something that seemed to make sense.

It Also Turned Out to be One of the Fastest-Growing E-Business Models on the Planet!

This package let me try and test it thoroughly before I committed a cent.

I wasn't burdened by hard-sell and get-rich-quick schemes.

Instead, Site-Build-It helped me work from home.

These people explained to me the nature of e-commerce and why so many businesses on the Net don't survive.

It was intelligent, logical and very, very well constructed.

I like doing business with that kind of organization.

How do You Find Time to do That?

This is the first question people who know me ask when I tell them I've built a website.

The answer is all there in the package. I worked through the Christmas holidays in 2007 and by January 2008 had the beginnings of a very satisfactory website.

And I had no previous expertise.

Ten years ago, we would have been sunk

Now I sit in my home office with my children playing at my feet.

Every day I chip away at the site and the e-books.

I've set up my homeschool for my children and am happy with the way their education is going.

I still work at my offline business 2 1/2 days a week, but mostly, we're here together, building our dream.

It's all good.

Soon I'll get round to putting a video clip on this page of our home/business life, but right now you might find this link fun to look at.
